Simpson’s Springfield Metro Network

The famous animated sitcome, The Simpsons, unveiled a metro system for the imaginary city of Springfield. Needless to say that we immidiately performed a network analysis to compare it with other metros in the world. Following our previous analysis (see the poster here), we actually find that Springfield’s metro is closest to the Hong Kong MTR. Indeed, both systems have a similar number of stations as well as many transfer stations between two lines. Springfield’s metro, however, does seem to have an unrealistic number of transfer stations. Some assumptions had to be made for this analysis (just counting the number of stations was not easy); find the pictures that we used here and here.
